Electricity With Magnets

Can you really make electricity with magnets? Ask the quarter of a million people who have it in their homes and they will say yes. Ask the corporations that use it as seen on the show “60 Minutes” and they might say yes. Is it a new idea? Not really. It has been slower to develop than other sources of alternative energy but as a renewable energy source it has quite the potential for the future.
Think about the dynamics of electricity with magnets. Not dependent on if the wind blows like wind power. Not dependent on the sun to be shining as is solar power. There are no wind towers or solar power panels. Magnets do not take coffee breaks and have a life expectancy of over 200 years!
We all worry sometimes about if we are about to loose power to our homes due to a blizzard, hurricane, or other weather occurrences. When the power does go out we run to start up our generators and hope we have enough gas to last. To have an alternative energy source available at all times is a relief. Lower electric bills are also nice. Free energy would be even better. It would be nice sometime to be able to watch the electric meter run backwards!
As with other alternative energy, magnets can be considered a green energy source. No emissions into the atmosphere and no ground pollutants. The maintenance is very minimal. It is clean energy that is a renewable energy for the future!

Solar Power

No moving parts, can be stored and as an alternative energy, and it could be called free energy. This type of energy is a renewable energy and great when it can lower your electric bills!
As a green power source for alternative energy there are no towers to deal with, no spinning blades to worry about, and maintenance is minimal and can be even lessened by the type of battery storage used and the size inverter used. The inverter is used to change the generated DC voltage to AC power that runs the lights, tv, and everything we use in our homes.
As a daily source of power, the solar power panel is place on the south exposure. The home solar panels can be placed on roofs, walls or on stands. Solar power panels have no moving parts and solar power systems are always improving as the technology develops. As a renewable energy it energy will be here long after all the oil has been used up.
When used as a backup source for our homes solar power is a viable source. With no power how can gas get pumped for your generator at the store? Any alternative energy has some limitations but is it better to have lights and the refrigerator still running?
Different parts of the country have amounts of peak sun hours available and those are used to calculate the number of panels for total independence. But lower electric bills, free energy and knowing that you have a renewable energy is always a benefit. As with all home projects there are always start up costs but just ask the government for a handout, everyone else gets one!

Wind Power

It does work! The wind can supply power on a daily basis, can be used as backup, or even as an alternative energy source. It has few moving parts and the maintenance is minimal. You can call it “green power”.
Power utilities have developed wind power energy for commercial use on wind farms both on land and in the water. The towers that the generators are mounted onto are tall enough to place the turbine itself above all surrounding obstacles so to have the wind be more steady and not subjected to turbulence generated by obstacles in the area.
For a home and as a daily source source wind power can be used to supplement power from the grid as long as the wind blows. To small of a breeze , or to large, does have an impact as to how much power is generated and will be available to use. Batteries can be used for storage and with an inverter for using this power in your home. Wind power efficiency also depends on where you live.
When used as a backup source for power, wind power energy does become very dependent on if the wind is blowing when the power is needed, hard to turn on the wind unlike a gas generator. But if you are looking for an alternative energy source, wind power is a very good idea. Once again, batteries for storage and an inverter can be a very good alternative energy source when the power goes out.
As wind can be called free energy or renewable energy, it is a start towards lower electric bills and some independence from the utility companies. Wind power for homes does work!! There are always start up costs and those can be minimized with government programs.

Is Alternative Energy In our future?

Alternative energy! A renewable energy or is it free energy?

The cost of energy has and will continue to rise. The world has a large appetite and it continues to grow. As countries develop their demand and consumption of electricity and fossil fuels also continues to grow.
What can we do? Maybe turn off some lights, carpool, mass transit if available, lower thermostats for heating or raise them for cooling, or maybe turn off the tv and read a book. We have and continue to enjoy a good life when the power is on. But what if it goes off? Alternative energy sources can help. Wind power, solar power, or one of the newer ideas of making electricity with magnets.
I have lived in New England and gone through blizzards and ice storms. The power has gone off for days and the threat of freezing pipes becomes very real, a real mess to repair and clean up. I have also lived in Florida and have been through several hurricanes and lost power for days. Food goes bad, pools turn green(very bad),generators run, for those who have them, and life changes. Remember that gas stations need electricity to pump gas for those generators!
What of the dangers on the west coast and the midwest. Tornadoes, mudslides, earthquakes, and fires to mention a few. All of these can result in the power going off and making our lives uncomfortable at best.
As an electrician for over 25 years, I have seen what can be considered the waste that has gone into buildings for “backup power”. Thousands of dollars for large generators and the money spent on maintenance of these machines, the extra wiring and components needed, and realize that some of which may never be needed. Hospitals, police departments, fire departments are not included in that statement for those are life safety and protection. But what of office buildings or stores? Why not use alternative energy sources for that emergency. The important thing is to get the people out of the building safely. Also an alternative energy source will also have a payback for the building.

The same can be said for our homes. Would an alternative energy like wind power, solar power, or power from magnets become our “green electricity”. Could these become free energy? Why not?
